Washington Post travel writer gives Atlanta trip a thumbs up
A nice travel piece on Atlanta appears today on the Washington Post site. Columnist William Powers, who writes as The Impulsive Traveler, has an unplanned two-day trip in Atlanta due to a flight delay and he seems to really enjoy the city as a tourist destination.
He hits up the aquarium, the botanical gardens and Little Five Points; he eats at Flying Biscuit Cafe and Six Feet Under; and he has a rollerblading adventure in Piedmont Park. Not bad for a spontaneous 48-hour visit.
It’s always interesting to see the city through the eyes of a tourist. And it’s nice to know that a random visit to Atlanta can leave a traveler smiling.

YES! THIS is what you do when you come to Atlanta! I read/hear about so many people brushing off the city as a tourist destination, and then you find out what they did/where they visited: “didn’t leave the block around my hotel Downtown (TOO SCARY!!!)” or “I stayed near Perimeter Mall” or “World of Coke.” Bravo, Mr. Powers — very good mix of typical touristy stuff and venturing out into the neighborhoods!
